Checklist for a vacation rental

Once you’ve determined that a vacation rental is the best option for your annual family vacation, the next step is to make sure you have everything you need for a memorable experience. Most of these homes or cottages are fully furnished and offer all the comforts of home, including a television. Toiletries, clothing, and basic first aid supplies, on the other hand, will still be needed. As a parent, you must not only make sure you have everything you need, but also make sure your children don’t suffer the disappointment of losing their bathing suits while waiting for a beach vacation.

On this page, you’ll find a checklist of things you’ll need to remember when you’re on your next vacation rental trip.

For the children

When dealing with children who are always dirty and fussy about what they wear, the general rule is to always bring an extra. They will need these necessities to fully enjoy their family trip. While on vacation, you should bring a complete outfit each day, along with an additional sweater, an extra pair of pants, and several other underwear, shirts, and socks. If you want to take them out to dinner or to see a relative, they’ll need at least one formal outfit and a pair of dress shoes, depending on the occasion. They’ll need their favorite nighttime pajamas. Swimming at the beach, their favorite outdoor pastime, will need two bathing suits, two beach towels and a nice sweater to keep them warm if the wind is blowing! Pack a pair of running shoes, as you will be doing a lot of sightseeing during your trip. Preventing tiredness and pain related to sore feet can be avoided by making sure you are wearing the proper footwear during your workout.

For the purpose of playing

If you’ve ever taken a long road trip with your kids, you’ll understand how important it is to keep them entertained. There are a variety of different ways to pass the time when driving a vehicle. Bringing portable board games, a deck of cards, their favorite novels or short stories, and a crossword or word search book are often a hit with children. Pack a cooler full of juice and water to quench your thirst, and snacks like fruits, vegetables, and granola bars to satisfy your munching cravings.

Adults should read the following

Take the time to prepare an outfit for each day of your vacation for all the adults traveling. Carrying an extra pair of underwear and socks is always a good idea, especially if you intend to participate in some strenuous activity on a hot day, such as running, biking, or simply strolling around the neighborhood. Be sure to include two formal clothes appropriate for dinner at a nice restaurant, as well as a sweater for the cold nights you might try on your travels! Be sure to bring appropriate footwear for the type of activity you will be participating in. Bring a sun hat, sunglasses, two bathing suits, two large beach towels and a beach blanket for the beach if you plan on spending time there. Dress’ don’t forget to bring a pair of flip flops to walk around on the scorching sand without burning your feet. When it comes to toiletries, make sure you pack the basics, which include soap, a toothbrush/toothpaste, deodorant, tweezers, and a hairbrush.

Basic First Aid (also known as CPR)

During the holidays, it is something that no one likes to think about, as it is unpleasant. Even though the likelihood of being injured is low, it is better to be prepared than to be caught without essential supplies to heal yourself or others if the worst case scenario occurs and someone is injured. Aloe vera gel, bug spray, sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, and baby wipes or damp towels are essential items to have in any first aid kit. Wet wipes or damp towels are also useful for cleaning up after an accident. Be sure to include rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide, gauze, tape, Polysporin, band-aids and splints in case of a fractured bone or dislocation in case of a cut or scrape. Aspirin is highly recommended for pain relief or in case of a headache,

Having reached the end of your list, packing should be a snap, as long as you first get everything into a bed and then go over the list one more time. If you get to the end of the list and you have everything you need, put everything in your bag in a neat pile. Going over the list again is also a fantastic way to encourage yourself to start thinking about all the things you want to participate in over the holidays. If there are any special events planned, this exercise can help jog your memory and ensure that nothing significant is missed. All that’s left is for you to relax and enjoy your beautiful vacation rental.
